Soléane’s internship at Wooden
My name is Soléane, and I am currently in my final year of studies for a Diploma in Applied Arts
and Design in Lyon, France. My education has been shaped by a particularly enriching experience
I had during my second year: an internship abroad in Finland, with the company “Wooden.”
Traveling abroad to explore and discover the foundations of the profession I aspire in my future
was a unique opportunity that I will never forget. This internship pushed me out of my comfort
zone, allowing me to immerse myself in another culture and, most importantly, to discover a
profoundly different approach to design.
This experience also played a decisive role in my reflection for my final-year thesis. Finland, with
its culture of environmental respect and its unique way of blending tradition and innovation in
design, became a significant source of inspiration for me.
Deeply impacted by this experience, my greatest wish for the future is to enable other secondyear
students to enjoy a similar opportunity, and, if possible, to return there myself. I am
convinced that such international exchanges not only enrich our practice of design but also
expand our quest of creativity.
