About Us

MOSAIC (Mastering Job-Oriented Skills in Arts and Crafts thanks to Centres of Vocational Excellence) is a European ERASMUS+ project involving seven countries—Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Finland, France, and Italy—and 15 main partners: six training centers, two universities, one company, three chambers of commerce and industry, one mobility services provider, one expert in cultural industries, and one multiplier organization, along with a significant number of secondary partners.
In its mission statement, the MOSAIC project defines itself as follows: “We aim to address key issues faced by vocational schools and businesses involved in craftsmanship, tradition, and creativity, by providing concrete solutions aligned with our times, ensuring full employability for learners and the competitiveness of the sector.” (MOSAIC, 2022). In other words, what unites the various partner countries and project stakeholders is this collective reflection on arts and crafts and, more specifically, their teaching and training.
The primary goal of MOSAIC is to enhance the quality of vocational training in arts and crafts to meet the challenges posed by digital, environmental, and socio-economic changes. This is achieved by fostering innovations through three main lenses: technical, pedagogical, and social, with an emphasis on sustainability and digitalization. To this end, MOSAIC has targeted specific artisanal sectors: traditional and rare crafts, precious metals and jewelry, furniture and woodworking, design, and industry. These sectors reflect the expertise of the various partners as well as the local and national specificities of the participating countries.
