Empowering Craftworkers: Myriam Nicolas Shares Her Craft with Europe through the MOSAIC Project.
The Chamber of Trades and Crafts of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (CMA Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) is committed to supporting and promoting the talents of local craftworkers. One of them, Myriam Nicolas, a passionate felt-maker, has taken this opportunity to shine on the European stage.
Myriam creates beautiful, original, and functional products using traditional felting techniques. Among her signature creations is the “felt soap” – an innovative 2-in-1 product that combines a natural handcrafted soap with a felted wool covering, transforming it into a glove-like cleansing accessory. The soaps she uses are handmade in France, free from palm oil, and wrapped in soft, colorful wool that brings a touch of poetry to everyday routines.
Keen to broaden her horizons and collaborate across borders, Myriam responded to the MOSAIC call for projects, which aims to connect craftworkers across Europe through craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation. Her proposal was selected as one of the winning projects, earning her a spot in a network of passionate craft professionals working together to revitalize traditional know-how and foster international cooperation.
Thanks to MOSAIC, Myriam’s felt soaps will be showcased at key events across several European countries, giving her work greater visibility and highlighting the creative potential of the region’s craft sector. This initiative not only supports the economic development of craftworkers but also helps preserve the cultural heritage embedded in their craft.
Through this experience, Myriam contributes to a shared European vision: a future where craftsmanship plays a central role in sustainable innovation and cultural identity.
